Rooted in precision and quiet elegance, Weihaoyong Studios is a Malaysian fashion label known for its architectural minimalism and refined tailoring. Founded by designer Aaron Wei Hao Yong, who hails from Sabah and trained in Paris, the brand captures a balance between structure and softness.
For women in Malaysia seeking timeless, versatile clothing that feels both effortless and sophisticated, Weihaoyong offers a thoughtful alternative to fast or predictable fashion. Each piece — from fluid silk tops to impeccably cut trousers — reflects Aaron’s belief in subtle complexity: construction that appears simple yet reveals intricate craftsmanship up close. With details like porcelain buttons, clean lines, and sculptural draping, Weihaoyong garments transcend seasons, combining global polish with Malaysian sincerity.
At Dia, we’re proud to present Weihaoyong’s elegant vision: Clothing for the modern woman who values intention, quality, and quiet confidence. Learn more about the brand in Aaron’s own words, below.
How does your background in Kota Kinabalu and your time in Paris shape the Weihaoyong aesthetic today?
Kota Kinabalu’s laid-back rhythm taught me sincerity in work, while Paris refined my eye. My time there helped me understand balance, composition, and how to distill ideas into something tasteful without compromising my beliefs.
How has your vision evolved since 2015?
I now have a clearer sense of direction — both creatively and commercially. I’ve learned how to edit my ideas and design with a stronger awareness of what truly resonates with clients.
Minimalism is central to your work. How do you define it personally?
Minimalism, to me, is subtle complexity. My pieces may look simple, but the construction is intricate. I prefer details that are built into the garment’s structure rather than applied, using the fewest cut lines to create form and movement.
What does your creative process look like, from concept to finished garment?
It begins with a silhouette or feeling. I drape directly on the stand, letting the fabric guide me. Once the proportions feel right, I refine the pattern until the garment looks and feels effortless.
What’s inspiring you lately?
I’ve been working on silk gowns for the upcoming ball season, exploring bias cuts and vintage couture techniques — reinterpreting them into modern, fluid forms.
When do you feel most creative — and what does that environment look like?
Right after tidying my workspace. A clean, organized environment clears my mind and sparks new ideas.
Which artists, architects, or designers outside of fashion influence you most?
Frank Lloyd Wright for his harmony between structure and nature, and Slava Fokk for his balance of surrealism and classicism.
What detail in your garments do you hope people notice when wearing them?
Our porcelain buttons — refined yet durable — and our signature cuts, where details are integrated seamlessly into the garment’s form.
Please choose three items that will be on Dia, and explain what makes them special.
The Twisted Drape Shoulder Top is a client favourite — light, versatile, and designed to be styled in multiple ways. The Unisex Pants come in four fabric weights and colourways. The ultra high-waisted cut elongates proportions, while the Wrap Pants offer a relaxed, adjustable fit with an attached side belt.
Who do you envision when designing — is there a “Weihaoyong” person or muse?
I used to think of Audrey Hepburn — elegant and timeless — but now my clients are my muses. Their individuality continues to shape the label.
What do you want people to feel when they wear Weihaoyong?
Confidence and ease — clothing that moves with them, feels timeless, and becomes part of their lives, not just their wardrobes.
